It has become a habit or tradition for chinese to thoroughly clean and rearrange our furniture prior to Chinese New Year. However, this good practice should not limited to only Chinese but it is good for everyone. Also, it is a good idea to do this on a more regular basis throughout the year since. Moving your furniture slightly is a good Feng Shui practice for your home, thus rearranging sofas, beds and sideboards to sweep and remove the dirt and dead insects that may have accumulated will help immensely to keep the qi moving.
Nevertheless, as per Chinese sayings, it is always to start doing thing at the right time. Therefore we must choose an auspicious date to carry out Spring Cleaning activities. The concept behind Date Selection is simple, that is to carry out an activity at the point in which the energies in the universe are optimised for that particular endeavour. Through the infusion of these energies, a particular event can commence on a positive note and footing.
Based on Tong Shu or Chinese Almanac 2013, I have listed out some auspicious date for Spring Cleaning below:
Remember to keep the qi moving and the good fortune will flow in.
Wish you all the best in the Water Snake Year of 2013.
